was looking forward for the BCLS course this morning. oh, BCLS means Basic Cardiac Life Support in short. basically it's CPR. well, we've gotta be trained and tested and be given a cert to prove that I've successfully undertaken the training.
sat through the E-learning for half an hour. didn't even manage to finish up the E-learning. then we were asked to go to the skill lab so that we'll be able to do hands-on the mannequin. they demonstrate to us 4 modules. which will all be tested later in the afternoon. first module is the one man CPR, then infant CPR, followed by how to handle choking adults and infant. all were being demonstrated very quickly. i wasn't able to catch everything. after the demonstration by those instructors (which turned out to be extremely mean instructors!!) we were being separated into 4 groups. cus there were too many of us.
then we get to know that our instructor is Mr. X (let's not mention names). thought he's very nice at first. mana tau.. turned out to be a mean and strict instructor!! probably the meanest!! yeah, i know what they're teaching us today involves human lives and that we should not be fooling around. but we were sooo not fooling around! in fact we paid full attention to whatever it is that they taught!
Mr. X started teaching. and i can definitely say that he has got NO PATIENCE AT ALL!!!
he was like "why are you doing this???!!! do you think this is right??!! locate your landmark! hurry up!! why are you so slow??!! how do you expect to save a person's life by doing that?!!? why can't you understand??! put your finger here!! pump harder!! blow into the mannequin's mouth harder! i said harder!!! you're not doing what i asked you to!!, do you know your steps??!".
well, that's just half of it. there's loads more. really felt like crying there. didn't expect to get this kinda teaching. kept on rushing us to do it better. how can we possibly do anything well if you're rushing us??! felt like going crazy. and i will definitely remember this phrase of his, "go save a person's life to prove me wrong". sigh. excuse me sir. it's not like we don't believe you. it's just that we needed more time to practice.
we even have to sit for a test which consists of 30 multiple choice question and the practical test.
well, thank god i passed it all. thank god all of us passed it. the practical test wasn't exactly a pleasant one though. lots of scolding there as well. but i don't feel like talking bout it anymore. just ate ice cream to cool myself down. and now I'm blasting music into my head to get everything out!!! just hope i can sleep well tonight. tomorrow gotta do morning shift. sigh. what a day..
